A private jet from New York to Miami costs about $15,000 to $38,000 one way on a light to midsize jet, based on the prices four charter brokers publish for this route in 2026. A super midsize jet runs about $25,800 to $48,000, and a large jet $40,000 to $65,000. The flight takes roughly 2½ to 3 hours from Teterboro to Opa-locka, the two airports most charters use.

Split between passengers, a full light or midsize jet works out to roughly $2,400 to $4,000 per person one way. Prices are highest from late October to April, when demand to South Florida peaks.

New York to Miami private jet prices: four brokers compared

Each broker publishes its own estimate for this route, and they do not agree. Here they are side by side, one way, in US dollars:

Sources: Paramount (verified August 2026), evoJets (updated September 10, 2026, "historical averages"), Haute Jets (2026, says its prices include federal excise tax, segment fees, handling and crew), XO ("starting as low as"; does not say one way or round trip). All four describe their figures as estimates, not quotes.

Why New York to Miami prices differ so much

Three things explain most of the gap between the cheapest and most expensive numbers above.

1. Whether the return flight is included. A jet based in New York has to come home after dropping you in Miami. Most one-way prices quietly include that empty flight. You can see it in the maths: at Paramount's published midsize rate of $4,700 an hour, 2.4 to 2.8 hours in the air plus 7.5% excise tax comes to about $12,100 to $14,200 for the flight you are on. Add the empty flight home and it becomes about $24,300 to $28,300, which is right inside the brokers' published midsize range. If a broker finds a jet that already needs to be in Miami, you can pay closer to the lower number.

2. Whether taxes and fees are included. Haute Jets says its prices are all-in, including federal excise tax and segment fees. Other pages do not say. On this domestic route the tax is 7.5% of the charter price plus $5.30 per passenger per flight (FAA, 2026 rates), about $1,300 to $2,900 on a typical light to midsize trip. Always ask whether a quote is all-in.

3. The date. Haute Jets reports one-way prices 10 to 25% above summer levels in the "snowbird" season from late October to late April, 15 to 30% more on holiday weekends, and the year's highest southbound prices around Art Basel in early December. May to September is the softest period.

Private jet New York to Miami cost per person

You pay for the aircraft, not per seat, so filling the cabin cuts the price per head. Using Paramount's published one-way ranges:

GroupAircraftOne-way total (Paramount)Per person
5 peopleLight jet$17,000 to $20,000about $3,400 to $4,000
7 peopleLight jet (if seats and bags allow)$17,000 to $20,000about $2,400 to $2,900
8 peopleMidsize jet$23,000 to $27,000about $2,900 to $3,400

Light jets on this route are listed with 5 to 9 seats depending on the model (Paramount), but luggage often limits the practical number. Confirm seats and bags with the operator before you plan around a full cabin.

How long is a private jet from New York to Miami?

About 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours in the air, depending on the aircraft and the wind. Paramount lists about 2 h 20 min over 953 nautical miles; evoJets lists 2 h 30 min to 2 h 47 min over 1,091 miles; Haute Jets says flights are usually faster southbound. All the jets above fly it non-stop.

Door to door it is much shorter than an airline trip, because you board at a private terminal minutes before departure. Haute Jets estimates about 4 to 4½ hours door to door.

Best airports for a New York to Miami private flight

Most used for charterOther options
New York areaTeterboro (TEB), New JerseyWestchester County (HPN), Republic (FRG), Morristown (MMU)
Miami areaOpa-locka Executive (OPF)Miami Executive / Kendall-Tamiami (TMB), Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE), Palm Beach (PBI)

Teterboro and Opa-locka are the preferred pair for Paramount, evoJets and Haute Jets. Miami International (MIA) is possible but rarely used for charter; evoJets advises against it because of congestion. Choosing the airport closest to where you are actually going (Palm Beach rather than Miami, for example) can save more time than the flight itself.

Cheaper ways to fly private from New York to Miami

  • Empty legs. Discounted repositioning flights. You fly on the operator's schedule, and the flight can be cancelled if the original customer changes plans.
  • Shared or per-seat flights. Some companies sell individual seats on New York to Florida flights instead of the whole aircraft. Blade, for example, listed seats from $1,775 per person each way in October 2026.
  • Fly May to September, and avoid Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Art Basel weekends.
  • Right-size the aircraft. If your group fits a light jet, the midsize premium is about $6,000 to $7,000 one way on Paramount's numbers.
