A private jet to Hawaii costs about $42,000 to $75,000 one way from Los Angeles and about $115,000 to $180,000 from New York, based on the prices four charter brokers publish for 2026. From the West Coast the flight takes about 4.5 to 6 hours; from New York it is about 11 hours with one fuel stop.

The route has one rule that sets the price: it is roughly 2,100 to 2,200 nautical miles (about 2,400 to 2,600 statute miles) of open ocean with nowhere to land, so you need a super midsize jet or larger. Light and most midsize jets cannot fly it nonstop. Split across eight passengers, a super midsize jet from Los Angeles works out to roughly $5,250 to $9,000 per person one way.

Sources: evoJets LA and evoJets New York (both updated September 10, 2026; "ranges based on historical averages"), Paramount (verified August 2026; estimates include crew and standard fees), Stratos (Oakland to Honolulu; excludes positioning, daily minimums, taxes and fees), Jettly (July 13, 2026). All are estimates, not quotes.

Round trips, positioning and taxes

Paramount lists a round trip from Los Angeles to Honolulu at $130,000 to $144,000 on a super midsize jet and $180,000 to $200,000 on a large jet, about double its one-way figures.

Most Hawaii trips are a week or longer, and charter aircraft are rarely based in the islands. That leaves two expensive options for the operator: keep the aircraft and crew waiting in Hawaii, or fly it home empty and send it back to collect you. Either way, you pay for it, which is why a "round trip" with a long stay costs about the same as two separate one-way charters. If your plans are fixed, ask the broker to price both ways and compare.

On taxes, the FAA lists a separate federal tax for flights between the continental United States and Hawaii: $11.70 per passenger in 2026 (FAA, 2026 rates). Ask for federal taxes as separate lines in the quote so you can check them.

Which private jets can fly nonstop to Hawaii?

Paramount puts Los Angeles to Honolulu at 2,218 nautical miles; Stratos puts Oakland to Honolulu at 2,092 nautical miles. An aircraft needs that distance plus fuel reserves, headwinds and the weight of passengers and bags. Published ranges show who can do it:

Aircraft (class)Published rangeNonstop from the West Coast?
Embraer Phenom 300 (light)1,992 nmNo, short of the distance
Cessna Citation XLS (super light)1,989 nmNo
Hawker 900XP (midsize)2,825 nmOnly on some trips, with light loads
Bombardier Challenger 300 (super midsize)3,100 nmYes, the usual choice
Gulfstream G280 (super midsize)3,600 nmYes
Bombardier Challenger 604 (large)3,518 nmYes, more cabin and bags
Gulfstream GIV-SP (large)4,109 nmYes
Gulfstream G550 (ultra long range)6,750 nmYes

Ranges as listed by Paramount and Stratos. Stratos says super midsize jets are the best fit for San Francisco to Honolulu and that light jets would need a fuel stop, which this route does not offer. evoJets also recommends against anything smaller than a super midsize jet. From New York, evoJets prices heavy and Global 5000 jets with one fuel stop, while Jettly says the longest-range jets, such as the Gulfstream G650 and Global 6000 or 7500, can fly from New York nonstop.

So yes, you can fly privately to Hawaii, but the cheapest jets that work on other routes are ruled out here. That is the main reason the price starts so high: the light and midsize jets that keep shorter trips such as Los Angeles to Las Vegas affordable cannot be used.

Private jet to Hawaii cost per person

You pay for the aircraft, not per seat. Using the published one-way ranges from Los Angeles:

AircraftOne-way totalPassengersPer person
Super midsize (evoJets range)$42,000 to $56,0008about $5,250 to $7,000
Super midsize (Paramount range)$65,000 to $72,0008about $8,125 to $9,000
Heavy jet (evoJets range)$55,000 to $75,00012about $4,600 to $6,250
Large jet (Paramount range)$90,000 to $100,00012about $7,500 to $8,350

A full heavy jet can cost less per person than a full super midsize. On a five-hour ocean crossing, luggage and range margin also favor the bigger cabin. Seat counts are maximums; check the exact aircraft.

Best Hawaii airports for a private jet

IslandAirportNotes
OahuDaniel K. Inouye International, Honolulu (HNL)Busiest option; the only airport where dogs and cats can be released without a neighbor island permit
MauiKahului (OGG)evoJets' recommended arrival from Los Angeles; flies direct without stopping in Oahu
Hawaii IslandKona International at Keahole (KOA)For the Kona and Kohala coast resorts
KauaiLihue (LIH)For Kauai

Fly straight to the island you are staying on. Changing to an inter-island flight in Honolulu adds time and, if you travel with a pet, extra paperwork.

Arriving in Hawaii: the agriculture form and flying with a dog or cat

Hawaii's arrival rules apply to every traveler, whether you fly an airline or a private jet.

  • Plant and Animal Declaration Form. State law requires every traveler arriving in Hawaii to complete it and declare plant material such as fruit, plants and seeds (Hawaii Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity). Your broker or the operator can tell you how they handle it on arrival.
  • Dogs and cats. Hawaii is rabies-free, and every dog and cat must meet its import rules or go into quarantine for up to 120 days (Animal Quarantine information). Requirements include two rabies vaccinations and a passing FAVN rabies antibody test, with at least 30 days between the test and arrival.

Fees and deadlines published by the state:

FeePaperwork deadline
Direct Airport Release in Honolulu$185 per petDocuments received 10 or more days before arrival (otherwise $244)
Direct release at Kona, Kahului or Lihue$165 per pet, plus the contracted vet's feeNeighbor Island Inspection Permit; documents 30 or more days before arrival, and a reservation with an approved vet
5 Day or Less program (Honolulu)$244 per pet

Honolulu inspects pets between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily, and the state advises arriving by 3:30 p.m.; pets that arrive later are held overnight. When you book, tell the broker you are flying with a pet so the arrival time and airport match your permit. Check the state page before you fly, as fees and rules change.

Cheaper ways to fly private to Hawaii

  • Fill the cabin. The aircraft price barely changes with passenger count, so a full heavy jet is the lowest cost per person in the table above.
  • Fly from the West Coast. Even if you live further east, a commercial flight to California plus a private jet from there costs far less than an ultra-long-range jet from New York.
  • Compare brokers on the same aircraft class. The published ranges above differ by tens of thousands of dollars.
  • Watch for empty legs. Jets that drop passengers in Hawaii often fly back empty, and those return flights are sometimes sold at a discount. They suit flexible travelers and can be cancelled if the original customer changes plans. See how empty legs work.

FAQ

How much is a private jet flight to Hawaii?

About $42,000 to $75,000 one way from Los Angeles on a super midsize or heavy jet, according to evoJets, and $65,000 to $130,000 according to Paramount, which also lists ultra-long-range jets. From New York, evoJets lists $115,000 to $180,000 one way. Round trips with a long stay cost roughly double.

Can you fly privately to Hawaii?

Yes, nonstop from the West Coast on a super midsize jet or larger, such as a Challenger 300, Gulfstream G280 or Gulfstream GIV-SP. Light jets and most midsize jets do not have the range for the roughly 2,100 to 2,200 nautical miles of ocean between California and Honolulu.

How much is a 3 hour flight on a private jet?

About $11,250 to $13,800 on a light jet, $14,100 to $16,500 on a midsize jet and $18,600 to $22,500 on a super midsize jet at published hourly rates, before taxes, fees and positioning (Paramount hourly rates × 3). Hawaii takes longer than three hours from anywhere on the mainland, and only super midsize or larger jets can fly it.

What is the cheapest way to fly privately to Hawaii?

Fill a heavy jet with a large group, depart from the West Coast, and compare quotes for the same aircraft class from several brokers. If your dates are flexible, an empty leg returning from or heading to Hawaii can cost much less, but it can be cancelled at short notice.

Can I bring my dog on a private jet to Hawaii?

Yes, if the dog meets Hawaii's rabies rules: two rabies vaccinations, a passing FAVN test at least 30 days before arrival, and the import form sent in advance. Release at Honolulu costs $185 per pet if documents arrive 10 or more days ahead; Kona, Kahului and Lihue need a Neighbor Island Inspection Permit and an approved vet. Otherwise the dog can be quarantined for up to 120 days.
